How I See Shakespeare’s Influences on Modern Arts
As a passionate Theatre Studies student, I do know how big of an influence William Shakespeare (1564–1616) is to the world of modern arts and literacy.
Shakespeare’s undoubtedly the best dramatist history knows. Writing plays such as Romeo and Juliet and The Two Noble Kinsmen, he certainly has influences on modern-day arts, mostly theatrical and literacy. Not only that, he has been credited for profoundly influencing culture in general.
Before him, there was no playwright who was able to appeal to the public the way he did. Plays (theatre in general) up until his time were reserved for the wealthy and the educated.
Shakespeare’s plays were inspired by the universal truth of human existence. His plays also influenced nowadays theatrical plots, by how the plot moves forward. His plot influence helps nowadays scrip-writers in writing dialogues and plots which may be easier to be expressed and understood.
In theatre and script-writing students’ eyes, Shakespeare is a figure with a huge contribution due to the fact of how he provides emotional experiences for the audience in his plays.
To us, and everybody in the world, Shakespeare’s legacy will forever remain as a contribution in modern and future arts.
